White Sea to both cenral Russia and Siberia boasted five big market squares and a huge mechantile hall (gostinyi dvor) with five trading rows, 240 kiosks, and many storage huts.
The annual trade fair, the Prokop'evskaya yarmarka, was held for three days in June. Merchants came from all over not only "to sell but to buy handwork and produce of peasants."
