Grandmother's Storage Chest In old times there was a saying " Put a girl in the cradle, put the linen in the box". It meant that a trousseau of Russian peasant girl was collected from the moment of her birth. She could not be worthy of a good marriage without worthy trousseaus. Up to the middle of 19th century a trousseaus was put into the braid bast boxes called korob or korobka or korobeika.
